Admission Policy – Preschool through 8th Grade

St. Barnabas School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally made available to students at the school.

St. Barnabas is a Roman Catholic elementary school intended to provide a quality Catholic education for the children of St. Barnabas parishioners. The child of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mother of Sorrows parishioners are admitted on an equal basis. The children of supporting members of the two parishes receive preference for admission to the school. As a matter of policy, we will not ordinarily accept students from neighboring parishes that have Catholic schools in operation.

Non-parishioners and non-Catholic children will be admitted only on a space available basis. Children enrolled in the school are automatically accepted for the following year unless removed for cause. When class size limits are reached or if, for any reason, the school cannot provide for the social, moral or educational growth of a child, admittance may be refused.

Children applying for grades above preschool will be considered on the same criteria as children registering for preschool, but admitted only on a space available basis. All admittance into grades Preschool – 8 are conditional for the first year. Normally, junior high students will not be accepted unless they are transferring from another Catholic school.
